What is the TOEIC® test?

The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC®) is a multiple-choice test designed to measure accurately language proficiency levels among non-native speakers. The scores achieved by the candidates indicate how well they can communicate in English with others in a social or workplace situation.

The TOEFL® exam

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL®) assesses the language abilities of candidates applying for admission to colleges or universities abroad or in Greece.
The Hellenic American Union is an official test center for the TOEFL® iΒΤ in Athens and Thessaloniki.
The TOEFL® ITP (Institutional Testing Program for English Proficiency) is used by language schools, universities, and other organizations to administer quality English-language assessments for internal purposes.

Practical Information for the TOEFL® iBT

How can I register for the TOEFL iBT® test?

You can register online anytime through ETS official website

When do I get my results?

Your results are available online at the official ETS website, approximately 15 business days after your test date.Scores are mailed accordingly to the Universities or Colleges of your choice, unless you have canceled your scores on the test day. TOEFL® iΒΤ certification is valid for two years; after two years' time, retaking the test would be necessary.

How can I cancel my test?

At the end of the test session, you will be given the option to cancel your scores.It is important to know that:

  • You cannot cancel your score for one section of the test.
  • No refund will be made.
  • There is no extra cost for score cancellation procedure.
How can I have my test rescored?

Within three months after your test date, you can request to have the Speaking and/ or Writing section rescored. It is important to remember that:

  • Only one rescoring request per administration can be submitted
  • The results of the score review process will be available approximately three weeks after ETS receives your Rescoring Request Form and fee.

TOEFL® ITP consists of paper-and-pencil tests
  • is composed of previously administered TOEFL® pBT questions
  • assesses intermediate to advanced knowledge of English
  • is about two hours long
  • evaluates your students’ academic English skill levels in three areas:
  • Listening Comprehension measures the ability to understand English, including short and long conversations and short talks or lectures.
  • Structure and Written Expression measures the ability to recognize standard written English.
  • Reading Comprehension measures the ability to read and understand short passages at university level

Even if TOEFL® ITP is an academic assessment that measures the academic English level of students (as the TOEFL® iBT or pBT does) it should not be used for the same purposes as the official TOEFL® test. TOEFL® ITP scores are for internal-use only and should not be reported to third parties.
